This major survey of the charitable sector covered a national sample of 270 organisations with total income in 1998 of $2.3billion. The sample included almost all of the 50 largest charities and was representative across all states and territories. The results were categorised into cause categories comprising Animal Welfare, Community Services, Environment, Humanitarian, Medical Research & Disease, Overseas Aid and People with Disabilities.

Over 15 pages of commentary, tables and graphs the report answers the following questions: -
