Vice Regal Patrons of Australian Charities

Despite Dr Peter Hollingworth's recent resignation from children's charities including Barnardos, Kids First and NAPCAN (National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect), there are still a number of organisations which list the Governor General as their patron, including child welfare organisations. These include: Open Family AustraliaAustralian Outward Bound Foundation AIDS Trust of Australia Arthritis Foundation of Australia Transplant Australia Opportunity International Australia Sleep Disorders Australia For many of these organisations, patronage by the Governor General of Australia is in effect a standing arrangement, where the position of patron passes from incumbent to incumbent. The same kind of arrangement also exists for those organisations which have as their patron the Governor of the State in which they operate.
