Tax Office Statistics - 2003 Update

Analysis of the latest Tax Office Statistics published today, confirms a consistent trend in increased claims of tax deductions for donations to charities and other public funds over a period of 11 years. Claims by individuals for tax deductible gifts of $959m were made in the 2003 tax year having risen from $439m in 1993 which is an increase of 600,000 taxpayers claiming gift deductions over the last 11 years.
