Givewell has updated its analysis of the funding of 275 Major Australian charities having a combined total income in excess of $2.3 billion. Over the 1998 – 99 period, total income increased by 10% compared to an increase of 6% and 1% in the previous 2 years. What’s more, all components of income increased at an accelerated rate compared to the previous two years. In particular, government contributions increased by 12%, now representing 46% of total income. Fundraising income increased by a massive 16% demonstrating a stronger culture of giving is increasingly evident across the community. A more detailed commentary provides latest figures for: -
