Welcome to Givewell's Project Spotlight. Each month we highlight a project for which a charity is currently seeking funds. We also provide details on how to give directly for this project.
A new TTY machine is needed for hearing impaired women to be able access Women’s Health Queensland Wide’s Health Information Line. The cost for the machine is $1,100. Women’s Health Queensland Wide is a not for profit, statewide health information and education service for women and health workers. It provides a toll free Health Information Line, a free lending library, information resources, access to research material and community health education activities. More than 7,000 women contacted the Health Information Line last year to discuss their health concerns. This service is staffed by registered nurses and midwives, whose role is to listen to women’s concerns, tell callers about health issues or services and assist them to acquire the information they need to make health decisions for themselves. The Centre posts books and other resources from the library to women all over Queensland and uses electronic databases to search international health and medical literature for women who seek detailed, research-focussed information on specific health topics. Women’s Health Queensland Wide produces information resources on a number of health areas. The resources are on the Centre’s website in full text, together with topical articles and research updates on women’s health issues and a fully searchable library catalogue. The Centre also conducts community health education seminars, including via videoconferencing to various parts of the State. Can donors/grant makers give directly for this project? Yes If so, how?
