Background Information: Last year Ash Rosshandler, the founder of karma currency, was stuck for an idea for a gift for a friend’s engagement party. The couple, who had lived together for some time, already had lots of “stuff”. So he thought he’d buy them a “goat” from a charity. But what if they weren’t into goats? Perhaps they were into saving forests or rescuing animals or educating minds or finding cures for breast cancer or heart disease or any number of wonderful causes. That’s when the idea dawned on him for a Charity Gift Voucher. And with some seed funding from National Australia Bank this idea is now a reality. Project Description: The initiative allows companies and individuals to give karma currency, Australia’s first online tax deductible Charity Gift Voucher to families or friends, staff or customers empowering them to forward the donation to the charities they care about most. They can choose to give to World Vision, Plan, Seeing Eye Dogs, Sids and Kids, Allanah and Madeline Foundation and over 100 of Australia’s top charities. In short; the aim is to make karma currency the most soulful, meaningful and enjoyable gift one can give. It’s the perfect gift for those people in your life who have everything and want for nothing. For Christmas, birthdays, bereavements, weddings, kris kringles, staff rewards and every special occasion under the sun. Plus, 100% of the value of the gift voucher reaches the chosen charity. This is achieved by charging the gift giver a small processing fee of $4.95. Meanwhile, the Corporate Karma Program is designed to reward an organisation’s staff, suppliers and customers. As an engagement tool it assists stakeholders in the giving process while sending out a clear message that their charitable wants, needs and interests are important to the organisation. What’s more, it’s made “matched giving” a fun, meaningful, memorable and engaging experience.
